Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our programmes and policies.

What age groups do you teach?
We welcome students from age 4 through to adult learners. Our youngest students begin with specially designed early childhood music programmes, whilst our adult students enjoy flexible scheduling and age-appropriate repertoire. There's no upper age limit for learning music!
Do I need to own an instrument to start lessons?
Not necessarily. We have instruments available for use during lessons, and we can advise on purchasing or renting suitable instruments for home practice. For piano students, we recommend access to a piano or weighted-key digital piano for effective practice between lessons.
How often should I take lessons?
Most students benefit from weekly lessons to maintain momentum and steady progress. However, we offer flexible scheduling including fortnightly lessons for busy schedules or intensive periods before performances or examinations. Your instructor will recommend the frequency that suits your goals and availability.
What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?
We understand that life happens. Lessons cancelled with 24 hours' notice can be rescheduled within the same month. Emergency cancellations are handled case-by-case. We ask for mutual respect regarding scheduling to ensure all students receive consistent instruction.
Do you prepare students for music examinations?
Yes, we prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity College London, and other recognised examination boards. Our instructors are experienced in examination requirements and provide comprehensive preparation including technical work, repertoire, aural skills, and sight-reading. Examinations are optional and based on student interest and goals.
